We had unexpected company at Banana Bay on Monday. She said she wanted to come to Canada but Ray said a hard no. She got a good lunch!!! It was freezing here this week as you can see from the dress of Jerrisma. It got all the way down to 18!!!! This is actually the wrong bill that I wanted to show you. The missing one had a 5% cover charge, 10% VAT and 15% gratuity. Meaning a 30% tax bill onto your dinner. Wow!!! Here we are having yogurt at the local Lucaya Yogurt shop. Maria, her grandson Issac and PJ. You get to choose one of 10 different yogurts and then get to add any of the dozens of toppings. It is great fun. Issac When PJ walked in out door, the first thing he said was, "I'm going to be the next prime minister of the Bahamas!" After spending a few hours with him, I think he well could do that.  There is a local belief that coconut milk can cure anything. Interesting...... You have to use your imagination here. This is the old church and there is a new one on the r...

#10 Prophecy and Jail Food

Tuesday morning found me at this new location.. Prophesy, interesting. I'm wondering if there is going to be some profound words spoken today!!! This was the location for Norma's Senior Coffee Hour group this week.  Women from at least two other Baptist churches were in attendance. I hear there are 19 Baptist churches on the island. Not sure they need that many but dat be the way it is. Here are my friends Pam and Jerrisma from Mount Zion Baptist. It is really cold like 20 degrees and the seas are high so the cruise ships can't get into port so I get to spend time with Jerrisma as she didn't have to work at her store on Celebration Key. Yay!!! Check out all of the hats and heavy coats. Too funny!!! Glad we are all learning to make scarves and hats..... This is the menu at the Jail House Cafe as I call it. Never judge an eating place by the exterior, always judge it by the line up outside. This place is always crowded. I'm never sure when to order or where to stand...

#9 Fawna, IMMIGRATION and Great Food and Company

This gorgeous plant is growing just outside of our door. Pls don't ask what it is called as I don't have a clue.... It would appear that the gorgeous bloom goes on to produce balls and it looks like someone has trimmed off the flower bit. Interesting. For the last few times going knitting, I've picked up my friend Maria on the way. This gorgeous bloom was at her house. Again, no idea what it is called but a true beauty. I know this is an awful picture but oh it was so funny. It was pouring with rain and Maria and her husband are on their porch trying to get an umbrella up. It kept flipping inside out and they were both wrestling with it. Eventually she just gave up and walked to the car. Ata girl.... I knew that the visit to Immigration to get an extension on Ray's stay was going to be a hassle but it was more than my expectations. When Ray came through Immigration in Nassau they had given him a 30 day stay only. I had come through a month earlier and got a 90 day stay ...
