Tuesday morning found me at this new location.. Prophesy, interesting. I'm wondering if there is going to be some profound words spoken today!!! This was the location for Norma's Senior Coffee Hour group this week.

Women from at least two other Baptist churches were in attendance. I hear there are 19 Baptist churches on the island. Not sure they need that many but dat be the way it is. Here are my friends Pam and Jerrisma from Mount Zion Baptist. It is really cold like 20 degrees and the seas are high so the cruise ships can't get into port so I get to spend time with Jerrisma as she didn't have to work at her store on Celebration Key. Yay!!!

Check out all of the hats and heavy coats. Too funny!!! Glad we are all learning to make scarves and hats.....

This is the menu at the Jail House Cafe as I call it. Never judge an eating place by the exterior, always judge it by the line up outside. This place is always crowded. I'm never sure when to order or where to stand after I have ordered and when to pay. I'm still confused by the rules as they seem to change. Some people pay when they order. Some people pay when they get their food and others don't appear to pay at all!!! It is really good food. It is the little yellow jail on the left going to the West End just before the big pink church. Got it?

Can you believe these alligator teeth? They are at the entrance, welcome, and the exit of Sav-Mor Drugs. I'm not a good speller but I could have done better on that name. The drug store is amazingly well staffed. When we left, I told Ray I just wanted to go back so I could be served by the staff again. We loaded up on vitamins to take to Mexico as we've had trouble getting them there before.

I love the smell of Kentucky Fried Chicken. Not the taste, just the smell. I've always thought that they should put it in an aerosol and I could just take a whiff any time I felt like it. I'm still not cooking and we hadn't been here yet, one of the only places on the island we haven't eaten in.....lol. I was so disappointed. It didn't taste anything like the product at home. It lacked the smell and grease.....
Anyway, there was a little homeless woman ordering beside us and she kept counting her money and counting her money so I checked with the staff that she had enough and was reassured she did. I had heard of this woman before and that she was living in a bus shelter and then was told it wasn't a shelter just a bench at a bus stop and that someone had recently destroyed the bench. I had made a warm quilt to take to Mexico to give to one of Martha's old folks but decided to donate it to this woman and sent it to her via a friend. I haven't heard whether or not she got it yet but I hope so. As we were leaving I asked her if I could buy her lunch tomorrow and dropped her some cash. Her response? "Thank you Baby." Put a smile on my face and the book she was reading? The bible.

Desperation drove me to get a pedicure this week. Many years ago I kicked a chair in the dark and broke my toe resulting in a weird nail to clip. That is my excuse. Anyway this lovely lady spent about an hour and 15 minutes making my feet look more presentable. Great personality on this young woman.

Ray couldn't believe that I actually have polish on my toe nails. I honestly have no idea when the last time was. I asked for just glitter which I knew would make me smile. This was the compromise and it is ok but not glittery.....

Saturday night, date night. Isn't every night date night after you've been together for 57 years? Anyway, we went to Cappuccino's and Italian restaurant in the Lucaya Market. I always like a table at the edge or corner so I can observe and have my back to the wall. That is the result of working with the criminally insane at Oak Ridges, Penetang......too funny but true.....

Nice looking simplistic menu not one of these volumes that takes 27 minutes to read.

Meet Ricardo our excellent waiter from Banana Bay. "What are you doing here???" He is such a delight. Every Monday when we go there for lunch he knows what we want to drink and where I want to sit and he couldn't be more pleasant. Now I know that that is his day job and this is his night job.

I was pretty excited to see escargot on the menu but when they arrived all excitement disappeared. The "sauce" was butter and lemon which just seemed all wrong and where were the little shells??? The salad had brownish lettuce. The entre of pasta with a mild marinara sauce and lobster was very good and the dessert of teramassu was too moist on the bottom. Bottom line, we won't be going back AND when I added up all of the taxes on the bill we paid 30% for 5% cover charge, 10% VAT and 15% gratuity. Seems like a bit too much.
9 days left here. Who is counting? Me!!! I'm ready for a change of venue. Not much planned for this week but I know things will happen. I'm trying not too drive too far as it is scary out there on the roads. Almost had another head on last week. I'm so looking forward to returning the car all in one piece. The car and us. Mexico will bring lots of taxis at about $4 each, a house keeper, gardener and somewhere to do our laundry every week for about $5. Yes, it will be a financial holiday.....
Have a good week. Be blessed. Be a blessing. See you here next week, "God willing Baby!!!"
