My Monday routine is to write my blog and then go to Banana Bay for lunch as my reward instead of getting a Nobel Prize in Literature. I have been there on my own which has been a delight so you can imagine my shock when we went last Monday to a full house. Yikes!!! Get these non-islanders off of my island!!!

One of the delights of having Tehya here is that we have had to play tourist for the last two weeks going to all of the places that she wanted to visit. Lucaya National Park was on the list so off we went. Ray and I had visited many years ago and remembered the layout so I gave my camera to Tehya as I had decided to go this time vicariously.....
Look at those stairs and I can have trouble going down an ordinary staircase!!!

There are two caves to discover along with a windy trail. We sat in the car enjoying the ocean breeze while reading good books. Old folks kind of stuff.....

We made a new restaurant discovery this week, Dolphin's Cove. It isn't that far away from our place and a tad difficult to find but we did it. Always interesting how the first time you do anything in life it can be a struggle and the next thousand times you do it, it is a breeze...
I would never order fish and chips ordinarily. I can't remember the last time I ate them but I have to say, I was very impressed. We will be back for sure!!!

Dolphin Cove entrance.

The bridge going to Taino Beach has been under construction for I hear about 10 years. I think they are finally getting serious about completing the project. Now, there is a detour around it called a "Diversion". I found that humourous.

The sad day has arrived, Jan.1st. Teyha is leaving us. Flying to Nassau, then Toronto and tomorrow back to Thunder Bay to finish her degree at Lakehead. It was so lovely to have her with us showing her around the island and getting her to meet many of my women friends.

Tehya's flight was for 8 and you MUST be at the airport and hour before your flight to check in or Western Air will not allow you to board. It must be the only time Bahamians are actually on time. We got to the airport around 6:30 and I was a little surprised that there weren't more people milling around the check in desk.
Her bag was over weight by 3 pounds and we got out the card to pay for it but the lovely lady looked at me and said, "Next time." That was a welcome surprise.
I kept snapping pics until everyone started yelling to stop. It actually took longer than I expected....
When Tehya got into Toronto and checked her phone she picked up a message from Western Air saying that her 8:00 o'clock flight had been canceled and now she was on the 7 o'clock flight. No wonder she got through security and then got boarded immediately....lol

There are thousands of traffic circles on Grand Bahama or that is the way it feels. At this time of year they are all decorated for the Holiday Season. We don't get out much at night, probably never, as driving in the daylight is scary enough without adding dark and maybe drunk drivers to the list so I was pretty thrilled to see some of the round about arrangements driving back to our place from the airport.

One of the places I like to visit is the Sally Ann. There are no antique stores here so this is the next best thing. It has been freezing here this week. LOL!!! It actually got down to 18 one night and one day it was actually 19 degrees so when I saw this bin it made me laugh. I bet they did a brisk business in winter apparel this week. The bin is probably empty!!!

This beauty was outside of Solomon's the other day. Wow!!!
Ray took this gorgeous sunset the other night. I think it would make an amazing painting.

The food gifts just keep arriving. One of my knitters, Maria, brought me this coconut loave. It was so delicious. She tells me it a Bahamian staple and I now know why.

At the beach yesterday. It rained for 11 drops. You see a dark cloud approaching. It starts to rain. You sit still and in 36 seconds it is over as you see the cloud passing by. This week is going to be interesting. This afternoon Maria is going to take me to the BTC office so I can get them to fix my phone so it actually rings when someone calls me and hopefully to add on 15 days so I don't have the hassle of adding minutes on the 15th of the month and believe you me.....it is a hassle.
Tues. is knitting at Eight Mile Rock. Wed. we are going to Immigration to try and not pay the $200 to allow Ray to stay for another two weeks. They only gave him a 30 day stay as he didn't know where he was staying in Freeport. That is what happens when the man travels alone for the first time in 57 years without his tour guide.
Have a great week. Be kind. Spread love in a world that needs it. Pls share the blog and I will see you here next Monday, "God Willing" as everyone here says......
