Things didn't work out at house number one so we moved onto Portola. Louis could only accommodate us for 3 nights and on Friday we moved into Bungalows Alicia which is funnily enough the very first place se stayed here in San Blas 20 years ago. The marriage split up and the apartments have been taken over by the wife, Alicia, adding a lovely touch. They are clean and comfortable.
Off to the market to get a buggy load of goodies. Ray wanted papaya for his yogurt and fruitus breakfasts. We couldn't find the granola this year to go on top but still delicious!!!

There are outside vendors as well as those on the inside. The little old lady that I always bought from isn't here this year. Sad.

I wanted some little sweet bananas but these looked past prime.....

This is down the street beside the market where all of the fish vendors are on the right. Anything you could possibly want is on your left. I used to buy raw oysters here and eat a bag all by myself but not this year. I appear to have a fussier stomach this year. Maybe it is just wiser....

The inside of the market has really been improved. Brighter, cleaner, more places to eat.

This area used to be a storage area and now is a lovely eating area.

So many wonderful displays of produce. I've had enough avocados and papaya. Thanks.

We always buy from this couple and there were huge hugs and juicy eyes on our arrival this year. In so many ways, coming back to SB feels like a coming home.

See the plastic bucket? That is what you pick up and put your goodies in. So practicle.

Mexican people are so entrepreneurial. While having lunch with my friend Joy at the beach, this guy came around with these spices for 25 pesos or $1.98 CDN. Perfect tourist trap. Little kids selling chocolate bars is also a sure sell to the tourists. I always buy feeling strongly a need to support local economy.

OMG!!! Mashed potatoes!!! I could have cried. There was also coconut shrimp which was awesome but the rest was left. Fussy tummy thing going on....

This is Borrego Beach, just down the road about a mile from the town. I think it goes for about 7 miles. So much sand which is blistering hot. The waves get high enough for surfers.
Sadly, we are coming home early on Thurs. Feb.26th as we have had enough. What gave us great joy in Mexico at the age of 60 now 20 years later doesn't have the same appeal. Cobble stone streets have gone from quaint to a dangerous health risk. The warm weather from lovely to unbearable although we hear this is an exceptionally hot winter.
At 12:30 today we are going to see a doc who doesn't speak English to get a 9 page document signed on every page so Ray will be able to fly home.
We are heading to Puerto Vallarta on Mon.Feb.23rd to spend 3 nights at the Marriott Resort and Spa. You should check it out.....yes, we will have the ocean view!!!
Thanks for being here. I will probably write next Tues. after settling in at our last stop before our flight on Thurs.
Are we having fun yet?
Blessings to you...
