#15 PV and HOME!!!!!

So let me get this right? You want me to get into the shower, turn on the water and then flip this electrical switch and readjust the temperature on the white head. Correct? I have a better idea, let's just have a semi warm shower from the water in the tinaco on the roof!!! My people don't do electricity and water....

Tuesday morning we are still under a code red and a stay in place order but we decide to make a run for it. Oh my, the roads were so spooky with no traffic. I put the passports in my back pocket thinking I'd give up my purse but still have the passports to get out of the country. Around every corner, I'm looking for a blockade. I really don't want them to burn this nice big car we are in....

Sandra drove us on the scenic route through Aticama along the ocean front. We didn't stop for oysters as the places were still all closed and there were no divers in the water.

Las Varas, we are half way to Puerto Vallarta. The main road is festooned with flags. So Mexican. I love it!!!

Mountains on the left and the ocean on the right, we are heading south. As we get closer to PV the traffic increases and as we enter the city, it looks just like normal!!! Yes!!! We have made it. One step closer to going home and it is feeling good!!!

We share paella for dinner and it is good but alas, not as good as it is in Spain.

I can't leave Mexico without having some churros. I love this but my stomach isn't wild about it so I'm happy when Ray agrees to share....

This is one of our favourite breakfasts at home - bagel, cream cheese, capers and smoked salmon. It was so delicious even if I did have to do the assembly!!! Skip the eggs. I'm not a fan.

Here we are at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa. This is the "inside". We had hoped to have been here for three nights but only make it for 2 due to the cartel action. We have stayed here before and really like it.

We usually stay at Marriotts. There are no surprises. When you are a member of their "club" there are games they play. For one, when you arrive you always ask for a complimentary upgrade and this time it got us on the 7th floor with a suite. Very nice. And I love the view!!! In the evening we sat on the balcony and solved all of the world's problems.

The pool was huge, no kids and warm. What else could you wish for??? Another game is that if you ask for a virgin pina colada it will be brought to you without charge. Also delicious....

We were sitting outside of the bakery enjoying a fruit salad and a chocolate chip cookie when this massive, at least 3 foot long, iguana came out of the garden and started approaching our table. I'm up and yelling to the staff about the gigantico iguana and they are all acting like, "Hey Fred, how are you doing?" Ray actually thought it was beautiful Really??? Yikes!!!!
Our flight the next day was pleasant. We felt like we deserved more treats so flew business class. The meal was ok but not gourmet. The flight crew were lovely. Alcohol was abundant for those who wanted it. As we landed, I thanked Ray for not puking......
We spent the night at Element which adjoins 4 Points Sheridan where we always stay at the airport. Again, being a Marriott Bonvoy hotel, we were up graded to a suite.
Early Friday afternoon we were picked up by the airport taxi and taken to the information centre at Fern Glen Road and hwy.11 in Emsdale.

Instead of dropping us off at the building, we got dropped off in the parking lot. The only buildings for shelter were two out houses so that's where I sat and waited for Yvonne to come and pick us up.

We have been together for almost 60 years and Ray has always insisted that we are not the Bobbsie Twins and therefore never wear anything the same BUT when you both loose your coats at some point over the winter and you are coming through the PV airport and see two warm hoodies......you end up looking like you are on the same team.....which we are!!! Here we are are with our luggage so happy to be home after a rough time in many ways.

I didn't buy a lot of stuff over the winter but last November when I saw a friend in Mexico wearing one of these coronas or crowns....I knew I had to have one so Edma asked her friend and she made me this gorgeous purple corona being modeled by Yvonne. I haven't found a home for it yet but it will be hung on a wall soon. Thanks to Erica and Jose who helped get a box to fit it and then taped it all up. It did travel well!!!

Yes, the snow has been a shock. We have never seen this much snow when arriving home.

Yesterday was a warm day so there was lots of thawing going on. The barn roof cleared. The basement sprung a leak and we sand bagged the basement door. Thankfully it is lightly snowing today so the flooding is slowing down. We will be ok if this snow takes awhile to go.

This was also a very cold winter so Ray is out there checking on the propane level to see if we can get through the rest of the winter. It would be almost impossible to get a truck in now to fill us up. The driveway is way too narrow and slippery.

It has been a slice. I can't express how thrilling it is to be home!!! I'm looking forward to getting the barn set up with lots of new antiques for sale and meeting lots of new people and revisiting with old friends. I love where we live here in the bush. Missing Max daily. Pls come and visit this summer!!! Love you!!!
